All children deserve access to age-appropriate programs that'll enrich their lives. The unfortunate reality is that not all children can join local sports clubs and attend after-school activities. Some children are currently seeking treatment for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses that prevent them from participating in such activities.

To ensure every child-including those who are in the hospital-have access to programs, the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation was founded. Keep reading to learn more!

What is the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation?

The ARVF is a national non-profit organization that provides children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses with programs that bring strength and support these children in need. Founders Mario & Giselle DiNatale decided to start this organization in December 2002 after their daughter, Alicia, passed away from a rare form of cancer.

Throughout her treatment, Alicia's parents noticed the importance of quality of life and how that can make a world of difference, especially with teens. Many hospitals have playrooms for patients; however, these rooms lack enrichment for teenagers seeking treatment.

The ARVF has raised more than $2.5 million in less than two years, giving hospitalized teenagers a place to go and a chance at normalcy.

Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation Programs

The money raised for the ARVF goes to one of several different programs, including:

  • "Victorious 4 Teen" teen lounges
  • Arts & crafts
  • Teen Kits
  • Prom and other events
  • And much more

Many adolescent patients and patient specialists have reported they often don't leave their room since they don't have interests in the same toys as the younger patients. The Victorious 4 Teen lounge gives older patients somewhere they can go and hang out with patients that are closer in age and play with age-appropriate toys and games.

For patients who aren't able to move around or are in isolation, the ARVF offers activities, like the mobile Alicia's Art Cart or Teen Kits, which are drawstring backpacks filled with games and activities, that will enhance their hospital stay.

Get Involved Today

Cancer and other life-threatening illnesses are non-discriminatory. They don't care how old or young a person is, where they live, or the color of their skin. These times of illnesses are tough enough without adding the ups and downs of the adolescent years.

By getting involved with the Alicia Rose Victorious Foundation, you're helping make an adolescent patient's hospital treatment better by providing access to age-appropriate programs and events. What are you waiting for? Get involved with the ARVF today!
